In this hands-on 3 week course, you’ll discover the versatile craft of batik — using hot wax and dye to create vivid, richly patterned fabric with results that are genuinely stunning. There’s a particular magic to the moment the wax is removed and your design is revealed, and you’ll experience it again and again across the three sessions.
You’ll be guided through the core techniques of wax resist and dye application, building confidence with each session as your designs grow in ambition and complexity.
No experience needed — just a curiosity for colour and pattern.
Miranda Stenhouse has a degree in Textile Design and experience working in the fashion industry, specialising in knitwear. She has also taught in primary education for 10 years and is part of the Learning team at Kettle’s Yard, while continuing to develop her personal art practice.
Places are limited — book early to avoid missing out. All materials are provided; just wear something you don’t mind getting a little colourful.
£90 for 3 week course
Please note there are no sessions on Mondays 4th and 25th May, and on Thursday 28th May.
