Rowan Welcomes Julie Brophy as New Chair of Trustees

Rowan is delighted to announce the appointment of Julie Brophy as the new Chair of Trustees. Julie warmly welcomed everyone at our 2026 Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, making it a delightful event for all participants. Thank you to everyone who attended and offered their support. We had the pleasure of enjoying a fantastic presentation from our student artists, followed by a lovely time with tea and cake. It’s always a joy to see new faces in the building, along with friends, parents, and carers.

Julie brings considerable experience advising organisations on good governance and strategy development.  She is a people person and is keen to get involved and to help us grow and explore new opportunities.

Their appointment comes at an exciting time for the charity as they continue to provide a safe, creative, and enriching environment for adults with learning disabilities at their arts centre and forest school.

Commenting on the new appointment Julie Brophy said: “I have a passion for art and releasing people’s creativity. Before joining Rowan, I was a trustee for Cambridge Community Arts. I’m delighted to be working with the trustees and marvellous Rowan team to ensure students continue to have an enriching experience.”

Julie Brophy succeeds David McConnell, who steps down after three years. The charity extends its sincere thanks for his dedication and contribution, and we are pleased to say he will be continuing as a trustee.

David McConnell added: I pass the baton to Julie Brophy who brings a wealth of relevant experience and will no doubt ensure that Rowan goes from strength to strength. I’ve enjoyed my time as Chair of Trustees immensely, but it is important to bring in new people with new ideas to refresh and enhance the development of the organisation.”
