Patchwork to Pillowcase

In this short 4–week course you will be guided to create patchwork squares, learning different techniques along the way. At the end of the course, you’ll assemble all squares into a truly personalised pillowcase. Get hands-on experience in sewing accurate seams and achieving flawless finishes, while exploring your imagination to bring your story to life in textile. 

• When: Beginning on Monday 3 June for four weeks, 6.30pm to 9pm (2.5 hours). 
• Materials: All materials for this course will be provided, but you are welcome to bring in your own tools and sewing machine for advice. You can also bring in any fabrics or embellishments you’d like to incorporate in your design. 
• Tutor: Your tutor GillyMai O’Brien is a textile creations artist. She was taught sewing by her mother as a child and it became a lifelong passion. GillyMai is highly skilled in many different techniques, such as felting, machine embroidery and the construction of clothing.  
• Cost: £100
• Accessibility: The Rowan building is wheelchair friendly and has accessible facilities. Please get in touch with us to let us know if there is something you need to be able to participate in our courses.
• Transport: We do not have any parking at our building. On street parking is available and free after 5pm each day. There are also regular buses on Chesterton Road just a five minute walk from Rowan. 
• All of our community evening classes continue to support and help the running of Rowan’s day-to-day activities for adults with learning disabilities.
